Beating the heat in July
While June started cool and rainy, feeling more like April, it ended like it was trying to break the Guinness Book of World Records’ hottest temperature streak.
As I write, the temperature gauge on my dashboard hit 110 today. On days like this, I used to wish for friends with a pool; now I wish I had a friend with a cold plunge!
Proverbs 25:25 says, “Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land”. When we’re tired, weary, or otherwise depleted, Scripture reminds us that words can revive a person’s soul.
Pastor Dan’s recent sermon series focused on parenting. The series was applicable and relatable to each of us despite our own parenting status as at the heart of the series, he spoke how we should live with and care well for those with whom we are in relationships.
How can we live and care well for (revive the souls of) our family, friends, neighbors and fellow GFCers who are in the pressure cooker of life and they are depleted, exhausted, spent or otherwise in need of refreshment?
Our time, care, words of encouragement, support and prayers may just be the very thing a fellow GFCer needs who is desperate for refreshment. Who is God putting on your heart today to reach out to? Take a moment to send the text or make the call, your kindness just may be exactly what they needed. Lisa Allen
