The impact of community

Lisa Allen   -

We celebrate each of the seven who followed Jesus in baptism on Easter Sunday. I couldn’t help but notice that nearly 75% of them had something in common. Maybe you noticed it too.

They were all part of the same group. It’s not their age that struck me, though that is also significant, it was that they are in community.

In Pastor Dan’s sermon series on Fellowship (GFC’s theme for 2025) earlier this year, he said, “We don’t fellowship to grow, we grow because we fellowship.

An important aspect of fellowship is community; spending time with one another. Spending time with fellow believers looks differently for each of us. Some enjoy Bible study, others focus on prayer, some share joys & sorrows over a shared meal. Some even play Mario Kart, watch movies and stay up all night (or try to).

The point isn’t necessarily what you’re doing together, it’s that you’re doing it together. Proverbs 27:17 tells us we make each other better versions of ourselves by living lives with one another.

If you’re not already part of a Grace Group, and would like to be, let us know via connect card or consider what you already enjoy doing, and ask others to join you.
